Product Analysis
In this section, I share analysis I’ve done on existing products.
LIVE EVENTS SHOPPING REIMAGINED
January 31, 2018
I conducted an analysis on Ticketmaster’s ticket buying process, and honed in on the the ability to preview live events before you purchase a ticket. Today, people don’t have a clear understanding of how far they would be from the stage, the environment, their distance to the bathroom and concession stands, or what the temperature will likely be.
My proposed solution is to use virtual reality to experience a thorough preview of the live event.
HEAL
January 22, 2018
Conducted an analysis of the Heal app, exploring ways to maximize gross profit over a five year period. I looked at a variety of sources to gather customer feedback, conducted a competitor analysis, and looked the existing mobile app.
I proposed the ability to set recurring appointments, to see a health dashboard where goals can be set and progress can be tracked, the ability to join support groups, the ability to consult with a doctor via text or video chat, and the ability to view doctor’s notes, lab results, and prescriptions.
WALMART GROCERY
December 29, 2018
I conducted an analysis on the Walmart Grocery business, focusing on ways to increase revenue / customer and increase retention. Within the write-up, I observed users and use cases, competitor analysis, and created designs of roadmap consisting of bundling groceries, buy ingredients to recipes, and selling “meal” plans based on customer preferences.
My most ambitious proposal was the idea of meal plans. Meal plans have a variety of challenges like attaching recipes to SKUs, continual assessment of Walmart and customer inventory. However, adoption of something like this could really change the way people shop. You could eventually employ machine learning technologies that enable Walmart to shop for you.
RING
December 21, 2017
Conducted an analysis of the Ring Video Doorbell service, specifically looking at how to use its neighborhoods feature to better achieve its mission: “to reduce crime in communities.” In the write up, I conducted a competitor analysis and looked at the primary use cases.
My more ambitious proposal is the introduction of suspects, which is shown in the screen on the left. The term “suspect” here is used to define any “suspicious” people on the loose within a given neighborhood. Basically, the idea is that those who post can create also create descriptions of suspects in the video. This alone would allow people and police to do advanced searches based on descriptions. Further, Ring can work toward linking videos with the same suspect. Finally, Ring can work with police to add additional suspect profiles in the area.
ZIPONGO’S ORDERWELL APP
December 2, 2017
Conducted an analysis of Zipongo’s Orderwell app. Orderwell allows people to order healthy food via pickup or delivery. Zipongo, the parent company, is a startup that partners with businesses to get their employees to eat healthier.
I conducted an analysis of users and use cases, and conducted a competitor analysis I identified that people select food based on four factors: price, healthiness, convenience, and taste. Zipongo was trying to play primarily in the intersection of healthiness and convenience, but it shouldn’t neglect the other factors.
I also came up with some recommendations.
